WE WON'T DELIVER AS WE SUPPOSED TO - UIF
With the lockdown in place for 5 weeks, the worried that many had of their salary for April has led UIF to be piled with relief fund applications.
Employers who could not generate enough income to pay their employees who did not work due to the lockdown were given an option of applying for funding from UIF and many have not yet received any form of communication from the Labour department.
Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi on Sunday said that the system was not build for the demand in which they have received and not all employees are at work.
"The system was never meant to face such a huge demand. The system is very small, helping with 10,000 to 20,000 claims. Now are talking millions. In terms of the system, we are not going to be able to deliver as we are supposed to".
With only two weeks left of the month and household bills needing to be paid, the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) are under pressure to deliver as expected.
